The chattering squirrel’s backstory

My dog, yesterday, got off-leash. He was lunging for a squirrel. Maybe it was a chipmunk – it was definitely one or the other. The squirrel cried, “jibber jabber” as I careened after my dog to try and get him under control, but alas! My dog had the poor thing in his mouth now and I couldn’t help but think, “how am I going to afford a heat-of-the-moment rabies shot for this damn dog.”
